Hala - Patterns of Life
THE CONCEPT

The word “Hala” takes us to the realm of Sufism, where the essence of mysticism resides. Hala, a small city in Sindh, Pakistan is famous through the subcontinent for art, glazed coloured pottery (Kaashi). Malleable and tactile, the inert lump of clay is coaxed gently by the craftsmen's deft hand. Slowly it begins to transform. Once it becomes alive there begins a silent dialogue with the artisan's soul. A connection with nature takes place!

The 8 pointed star also known as Rub-el-Hizb (Arabic: ربع الحزب, Rubʿ al-ḥizb, is an Islamic symbol. It is in the shape of an octagram, represented as two overlapping squares. It has been found on a number of emblems and flags. It is referred to as khatim or khatim-sulayman, meaning Seal of the Prophets. This collection invokes a sense of belonging towards our religious and cultural roots. We have used hand glazed tiles of different sizes in this collection. The vibrant colors of the hand glazed tiles give a subtle reminder of our rich cultural heritage of which we are proud of!
